How Long to Stay Near Yellowstone
Many people ask us how long to stay near Yellowstone. The answer depends on what you want to see. Here is how we think about it.
3 nights is a good start. You can see a few of the big spots. But you’ll be driving a lot, and you won’t see everything.
4 to 5 nights is a nice middle. You can take a slower pace and see more of the park.
6 to 7 nights is what we suggest for first timers. You can explore Yellowstone, enjoy Cody, and still have time to rest.
There is no minimum stay at our park, so you can plan the trip that fits you.
Yellowstone is huge. The drives between the sights can take a long time, so a longer stay means less rushing. We always say it’s better to have an extra day than to wish you had one.
Our park is a good home base for a longer stay. You can head into Yellowstone for the day and come back to a quiet spot with mountain views. Want ideas for what to see? Read our guides to Hayden Valley and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone.
